Event info

Scheduled for Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the world-renowned Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area, in northern Minnesota. This off-road triathlon will challenge participants with a 3-mile paddle, 8-mile mountain bike ride, and 3-mile trail run.

All of the distances are approximate; course maps can be found here.

The bike ride will take place on some intermediate mountain bike trails. All participants will be required to wear a helmet. Given the rough terrain in Cuyuna, we recommend that participants use mountain bikes (not cross/hybrid bikes). Pedal assist or e-bikes are not permitted.

Canoes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, paddles, and personal floatation devices will not be provided to participants. They must either bring their own equipment or rent it - here's a list of recommended outfitters

Allowed vessels include canoes, solo canoes, kayaks, tandem kayaks, or stand up paddle boards.

We are partnering with Pickle Events to manage our online registrations, timing, and some of the event logistics.

This event is for ages 16 and over. We may incorporate a youth division next year, but want to get one event under our belt before considering it.

However, there will be a kids "fun" (and FREE) triathlon at the Hallett Community Center the night before the race, so bring the whole family!

purposeful profits

100% of the event proceeds will benefit youth sports and activities in the Cuyuna area (through the Cuyuna Range Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization) so your contributions directly impact the health and wellbeing of our kids and community!

Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area is managed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. They reserve the right to postpone or cancel the race in the event of inclement weather or poor trail conditions. If this happens, no refunds will be given.
